Disaster Management

The Tsunami and Ockhi Cyclone were major disasters that devastated our district. GV, in collaboration with district government officials, provided immediate relief and rehabilitation support. During the Tsunami, 39,000 individuals were affected. GV, with partners like CARE India, PLAN International, and OXFAM Australia, provided essential supplies to affected households. To restore livelihoods, 12 Fishermen’s Rest Houses were built in coastal areas, and a 50,000-liter water tank was installed in Simon Colony. Additionally, 100 widows received livelihood assistance, 17 fishing boats were provided to affected families, and 1,200 schoolchildren benefited from free tuition classes.
