POCSO Act Training for Teachers

GVST, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women, successfully conducted two comprehensive training sessions on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. These sessions were held on October 4, 2024, in Chennai for the Madras Speaks English (MSE) project team, and on October 14, 2024, in Karungal, Kanyakumari, for the Kanyakumari Speaks English (KSE) project team.

The training sessions, led by Mrs. Everlyn Subha, District Coordinator for Women and Social Welfare Department, covered key areas including:

Recognizing signs of distress and abuse

Creating a supportive and safe environment for students

The training equipped our MSE and KSE project team and volunteer teachers with the knowledge and skills to identify subtle signs of distress and abuse, follow appropriate reporting protocols while maintaining child safety and dignity and foster open communication, trust, and security in the classroom.

The training reinforced GVST's commitment to upholding the highest standards of child protection. Certificates were distributed to all participants by the Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women.

These training sessions demonstrate GVST's dedication to creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. By empowering educators with the necessary knowledge and skills, we can ensure a nurturing space for students to thrive.
