The Good Vision Seva Trust (GVST) marked its 25th anniversary with a significant Silver Jubilee Celebration held on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, in the Kanyakumari district, at the Marthandam College of Engineering and Technology campus.

This grand event witnessed a gathering of over 5000 participants, including Self Help Group women, special guests, government officers, students, teachers, donors, well-wishers, and staff members, all coming together to celebrate the organization’s achievements and its ongoing commitment to social development. The celebration commenced with a traditional welcome dance, followed by the “Invocation to Mother Tamil” (Tamil Thai vazhthu), setting a cultural and respectful tone for the day. The lighting of the lamp, a symbolic gesture of beginning and enlightenment, was performed by esteemed dignitaries, including Thiru. T. Mano Thangaraj, Former Minister & Founder of GVST, Dr. Mythili, Dr. Phamila, and Mrs. Shobha Nair (SHG Animator). Dr. M. Valarmathi, the Chief Executive Officer of GVST, delivered the welcome address, reflecting on the organization’s 25-year journey, highlighting major milestones, and emphasizing the organization’s unwavering commitment to empowering women and children through focused initiatives in education, healthcare, and livelihood development for marginalized communities.

A special audio-visual presentation was a key highlight, showcasing the profound impact created by GVST over the past 25 years, illustrating the tangible difference the organization has made in the lives of many. Notably, the “English for Economic Opportunities” project was featured in an inspiring AV, highlighting the initiative to teach spoken English to government school students from grades 3 to 8 over six years, empowering children from underprivileged backgrounds with crucial communication and leadership skills. A student from Kanyakumari, Jessica Sharu, delivered a speech on Artificial Intelligence, a testament to the program’s success. Looking ahead, the event also unveiled “Vision 2030,” outlining the organization’s ambitious goals for the coming years, demonstrating a continued commitment to growth and expanded impact. In a display of cultural preservation and skill, GVST trainees and its founder Mr. T. Mano Thangaraj demonstrated Kalari, an ancient martial art, showcasing Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage.

The prestigious FEMINICON Awards were a central part of the celebration, presented in 15 categories to recognize and honor women’s achievements across various fields within the Kanyakumari district. Women from various Self Help Groups were also recognized with awards, acknowledging their dedication and significant contributions to socio-economic development. Students and trained teachers from the English project were also honored for their active participation and valuable contributions to enhancing English proficiency in government schools. Chief guest speakers, Dr. Phamila and Dr. Mythili, delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing the importance of upholding women’s rights, including basic rights, economic independence, social status, and political participation, and encouraging continued support for women’s empowerment. The celebration also included reflections on the progress made in women’s empowerment over the years, with Thiru. Mano Thangaraj, the Founder, sharing insights into the organization’s journey and the transformative impact of their initiatives
