Women’s empowerment is key to social and economic progress. GV promotes Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for financial growth and entrepreneurship, along with capacity-building programs to enhance skills and confidence. Since 2002, it has supported livelihood activities like handicrafts, agriculture, and small enterprises for economic stability. Credit linkages with local banks further strengthen financial access. Legal literacy and aid ensure justice for marginalized communities, while awareness programs on social issues, health, education, and government schemes empower informed decision-making. These initiatives collectively drive holistic community development and women’s empowerment.
In a world where marginalized, neglected, and vulnerable populations often struggle to access basic rights and opportunities, GV’s mission is to empower them to lead enriched, complete lives.
GV felt the need that stems from widespread social and economic inequalities, where many lack access to essential services like education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities. Women, in particular, face systemic barriers, requiring targeted interventions to promote their empowerment. Additionally, the growing environmental challenges and the increasing frequency of natural disasters necessitate a focus on sustainable development and effective disaster management.
Good Vision seeks to address these gaps by focusing on empowering women, expanding access to education, promoting environmental sustainability, improving healthcare, supporting livelihood generation, and ensuring swift response in disaster management. By tackling these interconnected issues, the Trust works toward creating lasting change, ensuring that marginalized individuals have the tools and opportunities to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.
Promotion of Self-Help Groups: So far, Good Vision has facilitated the formation of nearly 1,500 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), with 332 SHGs currently active and functioning under our guidance. Over the next five years, we aim to expand our reach by forming an additional 2,000 SHGs across the district, empowering more women through collective action and sustainable livelihoods.
Impact and Outcomes
The programs initiated by GVST have resulted in empowering women to make informed decisions, effectively manage finances, and improve overall well-being. By promoting financial literacy, health awareness, legal knowledge, and leadership, GVST has fostered a sense of confidence and self-reliance among women, encouraging them to take on leadership roles within their communities. Many beneficiaries of these programs have become agents of change, inspiring others and contributing to collective growth. GVST’s holistic approach to women’s empowerment, from economic support to social security and education, has established a strong, supportive environment for sustainable development. Through these initiatives, GVST is committed to fostering a lasting impact, transforming the lives of women and empowering communities to thrive.
SHG Members of GVST are very active and they are capacitated to generate income through self-employment and entrepreneurship programs supported by the organization and govt. agencies. To fulfill the credit needs of the SHG members with easy accessibility we have entered into an agreement with NABFINS, a subsidiary of NABARD as Business Correspondent. As the credit is given at a reasonable interest, SHG members can invest the money in income generating activities which helps to improve their standard of living. By improving the rural sector, Good Vision Seva Trust is paving a path to sustainable development. Many of our SHGs have successfully ventured into a variety of micro-enterprises, setting the foundation for sustainable livelihoods. We have organized Animators and Representative training (A&R Training) to the SHG Members to enhance their representative and leadership skills. Around 45 members took part in the training.
Capacity-Building Programmes: Good Vision regularly conducts capacity-building programmes to enhance the skills and confidence of SHG members, enabling them to manage their groups effectively and take up leadership roles in their communities.
Promotion of Livelihood activities: We promote diverse livelihood activities such as tailoring, fish vending, seaweed cultivation, and small enterprises, helping women generate income, gain financial independence, and support their families.
Credit Linkages: Through partnerships with banks and financial institutions, Good Vision facilitates credit linkages for SHGs, ensuring access to affordable loans that support income-generating activities and strengthen economic resilience.
Legal literacy and Legal Aid: Good Vision empowers women and marginalized communities by conducting legal literacy sessions and providing access to legal aid. These initiatives help individuals understand their rights, navigate legal systems, and seek justice when needed.
Awareness Programmes: We organize regular awareness programmes on key social issues such as gender equality, health, sanitation, and environmental protection. These sessions aim to inform, educate, and mobilize communities toward positive behavioral change and collective action.
