Women in Tamil Nadu have made significant strides in education, employment, and public life over the years. The state’s focus on gender-inclusive policies has led to high literacy rates and relatively better healthcare for women compared to many other regions in India. However, despite these advances, substantial challenges remain that justify the need for further empowerment. Although women in the district are relatively better educated, their participation in the workforce remains low. Many women are confined to informal, low-paying jobs, with limited opportunities for advancement in more formal sectors, particularly in technology and higher managerial roles.
