Rising Together: Observance of World Tsunami Awareness Day by Good Vision Seva Trust with SHG members
Hundrends of SHG members of Good Vision Seva Trust observed World Tsunami Awareness Day on November 5th 2024 at Mullurthurai, Mathoor Konam and Chemantharai . This year’s theme focuses on Fighting inequality for a resilient future(as suggested by UNESCO). The gathering was graced by our Project Head, Dr. Valarmathi, who addressed the attendees with her insightful perspectives.
The team of GVST emphasized the urgent need to understand the implications of climate change on our environment and how it can exacerbate tsunami risks. Their discussion highlighted recent scenarios where rising sea levels and extreme weather patterns have increased vulnerability in coastal regions. The team urged everyone to take measures in educating themselves and their communities about disaster preparedness.
The involvement of SHG members in this observance underscores a collective commitment to create awareness and implementing effective strategies for disaster risk reduction. As we move forward, let us embrace these discussions not only as an annual event but as a continuous effort to safeguard our people against future threats posed by climate change and natural disasters.
