Women in Tamil Nadu have made significant strides in education, employment, and public life over the years. The state’s focus on gender-inclusive policies has led to high literacy rates and relatively better healthcare for women compared to many other regions in India. However, despite these advances, substantial challenges remain that justify the need for further empowerment. Hence, we undertake the promotion of self-help groups, livelihood activities, capacity-building trainings, entrepreneurship development programs, legal literacy, and legal aid. Additionally, we conduct awareness programs.

Entrepreneur Development Programs
" These programs directly address livelihood creation and income generation. "
Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
SHGs are self-managed groups composed of low-income individuals. They were established primarily to mobilize financial resources through their own savings and to lend these resources among themselves to meet the credit needs of their members, thereby reducing the cost of borrowing. SHGs are empowered through various programs to address socio-cultural and political challenges in the current global context.
Good Vision Seva Trust has successfully facilitated the formation of 1500 SHGs, each with 15 to 20 members, across the district. The credit needs of these groups are met through a microfinance program supported by the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK), nationalized banks, and NABARD-NABFINS.
SHGs under Good Vision Seva Trust receive training in basic financial management tailored to their needs from time to time. They maintain accurate accounting and book-keeping records, which are audited periodically throughout the year. Each group keeps a General Ledger, Cash Book, Minutes Book, Receipts and Vouchers, Savings Ledger, and Members' passbooks and ledgers. Periodic SHG meetings are held with the presence of our field staff.
Social Security Scheme:
The Social Security Scheme is highly beneficial for poor SHG members. Under this scheme, each member contributes a small amount annually, which is returned in full at the end of the fifth year. In the event of a member's death, a lump-sum amount is provided to their family, offering significant financial support.
Bank Linkages:
Linking SHGs with banks aims to facilitate the intermediation of SHGs between banks and rural poor, reducing transaction costs for both parties. The primary objective of this program is to enable poorer individuals, as a group, to access credit without collateral security, thereby improving their economic conditions by utilizing the credit for productive purposes.
Credit assistance from NABFINS
SHG Members of Good Vision are very active and they are able to generate income through self employment and entrepreneurship programs supported by the organization.
